Founding Partner, Tim Takacs, is recognized nationwide as a leader in the important and demanding area of elder law. Tim has literally “written the book” on Elder Law in Tennessee. Elder Law Practice in Tennessee covers all aspects of elder law as it currently exists in Tennessee. It was published in 1998 and is updated annually. He is certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law Foundation and is a VA-accredited attorney.
Tim is a charter member of the Tennessee Bar Association's Elder Law Section. He has been a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys since 1991 and served on its board of directors. He is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and the Vanderbilt University School of Law. He has been in private practice in Hendersonville, Tennessee, since 1980.
Partner, Barbara Boone McGinnis, is certified as an elder law attorney by the National Elder Law and is a VA-accredited attorney. Barbara is a Registered Nurse, Gerontological Nurse Practitioner, and Certified Wound Care Specialist. Before receiving her license to practice law in Tennessee, Barbara spent more than 20 years working in clinical, regulatory compliance, management, and business development roles in a variety of long-term care settings. Barbara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Austin Peay State University, a Master’s degree as a Gerontological Nurse Practitioner from Vanderbilt University, and a Juris Doctor degree from Nashville School of Law.
Partner and attorney, Chris Johnson, provides legal expertise on a wide range of client issues with a focus on estate planning, VA benefits, and probate. He comes to the firm with 19 years of legal and military experience. Prior to his retirement from military service in 2014, Chris had achieved the rank of Major and was heading the Legal Services Support Team serving Marine Corps Air Station, Cherry Point, N.C.
