A nonprofit organization dedicated to bringing MORE. GOOD. DAYS. to those living with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, Respite Care Charleston provides social day programs, support groups and outreach at locations throughout Charleston for 20+ years.

- Our social day programs enable people with dementia to remain independent, maintain optimum physical and mental health, stay socially connected, and pursue interests and hobbies, all of which help to improve their quality of life.

- One of the most requested / needed supports reported by caregivers is respite - time to take care of themselves, run errands, take care of other tasks while knowing their loved one is in a safe, caring environment.

- Activities include mental stimulation, music therapy, one-on-one and group social interaction, arts and crafts, light exercise and pet therapy


- Programs are offered 10am - 1:50pm on select days at the following sites:

Martin Luther Church, James Island - Friday

Holy Spirit Lutheran Church, West Ashley - Monday & Wednesday

Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church - Thursday

All Saints Lutheran Church, Mt. Pleasant - Monday & Wednesday

North Charleston United Methodist Church - Thursday

St. Johns Parish Church, Johns Island - Tuesday & Thursday


- Program fee is $40 per person per day

- Scholarships available for families with financial need 

- Includes morning refreshments and lunch

- Professionally staffed with the support of volunteers

- No medical or nursing care is provided by staff at the day program; however, limited assistance with some activities of daily living is provided.
